InstallatIon tIps
Valor Shutters will expand and contract in different temperatures. The Shutter must be installed to allow for movement on the wall, therefore ensure that the top and bottom of the shutter is not touching any surfaces that would keep them from moving (i.e.window sill, soffit). Do not install the shutter/s inside an opening in brick or wood frame without allowing for expansion on all four sides of the shutter. Valor Shutters are NOT functional and are not to be used as a structural item, or to be used as an exterior cladding product. Valor Shutters are intended as a decorative accent only.
InstallIng on alumInum, vInyl or wood sIdIng
1. Pre-drill your shutters with a 1/4” drill bit at the locations shown in illustration “A”.
Shutters longer than 55” must be installed with 6 screws per shutter.
2. Position your shutter straight and level on the wall. If installing with screws and caps, insert screws through
holes in shutter and screw into the wall tightening just snug against shutter, back off a half turn (see illus- tration C), then snap on caps.
InstallIng on masonry products (Ie. brIck, stone, etc.)
1. Pre-drill your shutters with a 1/4” drill bit at the locations shown in illustration “A”.
Shutters longer than 55” must be installed with 6 screws per shutter.
2. With a 3/16” drill bit insert through holes in shutter, and mark wall for hole position. Remove shutter and drill
each position marked at least 1-3/4” deep. Install a #8-10 nylon plug in each hole (not included).
3. Position shutter on wall aligning holes, insert screws and tighten snug against shutter, back off a half a turn
(see illustration C), then snap on caps.
InstallatIon wIth optIonal shutter lock fasteners
1. Pre-drill your shutters with a 1/4” drill bit at the locations shown in illustration “A”.
Shutters longer than 55” must be installed with 6 fasteners per shutter.
2. Position the shutter on the wall and mark holes. Remove shutter and drill each hole
marked with a 1/4” drill bit, at least 2” deep.
3. Re-position shutter on wall aligning holes. Insert shutter lock fasteners in holes and gently force in hole by
hand. Then lightly tap fasteners in until the head of the fasteners just touch the shutter. Do not force in deeper.
